Your business should process a payment very quickly and it should not be confusing to the customer. I have visited many online stores to purchase products to only come away wondering just what the heck the webmaster was thinking by the layout of the products page all the way to the processing of the credit card. One of the biggest mistakes I see made is the amount of pages I have had to click through on my way to the check out. Thats after I had picked my products. Every extra step you put between the products page and the final submit page is going to loose more and more business. The best check out is no more than 3 steps. Pick your product, fill in your information then submit and get a confirmation. Thats it! There is no need for any other steps. This will get you more sales. Most customers are buying on a quick though that they want your product. The longer you delay getting their money the longer they have time to decide that they really don't need the product. Be smart and keep your checkout as direct as possible.
